The Santa Clara County Honor Band was founded in 1952 by local music teachers in order to promote and celebrate outstanding young musicians.

Seating is on a First-Come-First-Serve basis.Doors will open approximately 15-30 minutes before the performance.

Auditions

Auditions are held in December of each year at San Jose State University.  

General Requirements:

• You must be a current member of your school's music program
• Completed application and entry fee 
• 2-3 minute solo
• 12 major scales (1 octave, slured) 
• Sight reading

Soloist/Composition Contest

Every year the SCCBDA holds evaluates and selects a soloist and composition in late fall/early winter.  The artist/composer selected gets the honor of performing their solo with the band or having the band perform their composition.

 9:00 – 9:30: Soloist (reduced ensemble so those not playing free to go)

SATURDAY 9:00 – 5:00pm

9:00 – 9:30: Soloist Ensemble

 9:30 – 9:45: Student Composition

 9:45 – 12:00: Dr. Sedatole

 12:00 – 1:30: Lunch

 1:30 – 5:00: Dr. Sedatole (3:00ish run thru of program)

SUNDAY 12:00 – 4:00pm

12:00 – 1:15: Sound Check

 2:00 – 3:00/3:30: Concert

 Formal Concert Attire is Required!
